Juan Roberto LOZANO-MAYA
Juan Roberto Lozano-Maya is an IETS Fellow with more than 20 years of professional experience. His expertise spans energy-transition governance, power systems and energy policy, international cooperation and institutional partnerships, with regional experience covering Mexico, Latin America, North America and Asia-Pacific cooperation.
Lozano-Maya currently leads the Institutional Relations Unit at Mexico's independent electricity system and market operator, CENACE. Under that responsibility, he guides and oversees the organisation's international and governmental engagement agenda and provides strategic guidance to its senior leadership on emerging energy trends and risks.
Previously, Lozano-Maya served as a Senior Researcher at the Tokyo-based Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre and held energy planning-related roles at Mexico's Ministry of Energy and Mexican Petroleum Institute.
Lozano-Maya holds a Master of Science in International Management, awarded with Merit with a major in Oil and Gas, from the University of Liverpool (2015), and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Mexico's National Autonomous University, awarded with First-Class Honours and the Gabino Barreda Silver Medal (2003).
