AETI Supports the 2nd ISETS-ESCAP Youth Voice Global Final
AETI, operating as the ISETS Sustainability Institute, supported the 2nd ISETS-ESCAP Youth Voice Global Final during Asia-Pacific Energy Week 2025 at the UN ESCAP headquarters in Bangkok.
The work supported youth teams presenting solutions on renewable energy, energy efficiency and inclusive transition.

Flexibility technologies for a net-zero electricity future in China
Prof. Xunpeng Shi and Dr. Muyi Yang coordinated a study to understand key energy stakeholders’ viewpoints in China and identify cross-cutting issues for flexibility technologies.
The report combines literature review and expert survey to support consensus-building and faster adoption of flexibility technologies.

Sustainable critical minerals development in Asia and the Pacific
Prof. Xunpeng Shi, Dr. Muyi Yang and co-authors prepared a report published by ESCAP on the implications of energy transition for extractive industries in Asia and the Pacific.
The report analyses critical minerals development through the perspective of the Sustainable Development Goals.

China’s coal power transition
AETI served as the executing agency for the ISETS-Ember joint project, resulting in a discussion paper on China’s coal power transition.
The paper reviews coal power development during the 13th Five-Year Plan period and promotes debate on how to better progress transition in China.

GEIDCO clean energy power interconnection and trade
AETI team members were awarded a GEIDCO Research Project on cooperation policy mechanisms for transnational and transcontinental clean energy power interconnection and trade.
The project was jointly led by AETI Distinguished Research Fellow Prof. ZHANG Xiaoping and Prof. Roc Shi Xunpeng.

Australian hydrogen technology and business models
AETI was commissioned by an energy company to study Australia’s hydrogen technology and business models.
The study gathered preliminary information on global and Australian hydrogen markets, development strategies and action plans for market opportunity assessment.
2015
ESCAP regional power trade and connectivity
Within ESCAP’s regional energy connectivity work, the project examined barriers and bottlenecks for transboundary power trade and renewable-energy integration in Asia and the Pacific.
The work supports more sustainable and reliable power grids through regional cooperation.
2014-2013
Renewable-energy policy and energy-efficiency standards
AETI’s earlier work includes ADB knowledge work on renewable-energy policy lessons for South Asia and Bruneian Government energy efficiency standards and labelling regulations.
These projects connect policy design, technical standards, institutional capacity and applied energy research.
