Chokan Laumulin
Chokan Laumulin is an IETS Fellow. Their expertise spans sustainable energy; fundamental science and innovation policy; technology-based development; critical minerals; industry and modernisation in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
Laumulin is Professor at Kazakh-British Technical University; Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan's National Academy of Sciences; Research Affiliate at the Cambridge Central Asia Forum; Vice-Chair of the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy. Leads development of the Almaty Centre of Advanced Science and Technology.
Laumulin also brings more than 30 years of leadership and entrepreneurial experience across media, beverage production, IT services, freight forwarding, logistics and education.
Laumulin holds qualifications including PhD in Development Studies, University of Cambridge (2019); MSc in European Political Economy, London School of Economics (2001); BSc with distinction in Journalism, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (1996).
