Shabbir H. Gheewala

Shabbir H. Gheewala is an IETS Fellow. Their expertise spans life-cycle and sustainability assessment of energy systems; sustainability indicators; circular economy; nature-based solutions; biofuel and agro-industry certification. Extensive industry and research-network experience in Thailand.

Gheewala is Professor at the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi; leads the Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment Lab and mentors a Thai research network on food, fuel and climate policy. Joined UNEP's International Resource Panel in 2025.

Previously, Gheewala held senior, advisory or committee roles including long-standing industry trainer and sustainability consultant in Thailand; adjunct and scientific committee roles internationally.

Gheewala holds qualifications including D.Eng. in Environmental Engineering, Asian Institute of Technology (2001); M.Eng. in Environmental Engineering, Asian Institute of Technology (1995); B.Eng. in Civil Engineering, Jadavpur University (1992).
