Anindya Bhattacharya
Anindya Bhattacharya is an IETS Fellow with more than 25 years of research and consulting experience. Their expertise spans energy planning and policy; climate mitigation and adaptation; climate finance; macroeconomic impact assessment; energy systems modelling. Regional experience across India, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific.
Bhattacharya is Executive Director of The Celestial Earth, India, and Technical Advisor on energy and climate change to Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). Current work applies MESSAGE, TIMES-MARKAL, CGE modelling and climate-finance approaches to decarbonisation, adaptation, sustainable energy planning and energy-transition investment pathways.
Previously, Bhattacharya worked with NITI Aayog, Indian state governments, IIASA, IGES, ASEAN, the East Asia Summit, SAARC and the Greater Mekong Subregion on energy policy, modelling, regional planning and capacity building.
Bhattacharya holds qualifications including PhD in Energy Economics and Science, Kyoto University; MS in Applied Economics (Resource Economics), West Virginia University; MBA in Public System Management, University of Calcutta.
