Xunpeng (Roc) Shi

Xunpeng (Roc) Shi is the Founding Convenor and an IETS Fellow with nearly 30 years of professional experience. Their expertise spans energy transition; energy economics and security; climate policy; carbon markets; critical minerals; geopolitics; resources and sustainable development. Experience across Australia, China, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific.

Shi is Professor of Energy and Environmental Economics and Sustainability at the University of Technology Sydney; Research Principal at UTS:ACRI; Founding President of ISETS; international adviser and journal editor.

Previously, Shi held positions at the National University of Singapore, Brunei National Energy Research Institute, ERIA and China’s energy sector, including government, research and industry roles.

Shi holds qualifications including PhD in Economics and Master of Environmental and Resource Economics, Australian National University; LLM in Mineral Law and Policy, University of Dundee; BA in Engineering (Marketing), China University of Mining and Technology.
